While your flight is being cancelled, the world’s celebrities are flying around privately, shaking their assets on superyachts, dining at gourmet restaurants during the Eiffel Tower and climbing canyons at five-star desert retreats. sickening, right?
And yet we can’t help but look on enviously and pretend we’re looking for travel tips. From historic Roman villas to decadent carriages on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, here’s how the chic celebs have been living their best lives so far this summer.
Capri, Ponza and Rome
The American fashion designer has been living la dolce vita with his real-life candle maker Char Defrancesco, his brand’s global press manager Michael Ariano and photographer Nick Newbold. Jacobs revealed the friendship vacation on July 22 with an Instagram photo dump of the delicious desserts at Il Riccio, a cliffside restaurant overlooking Capri’s famed Blue Grotto, that had fashion glitz and glamor drooling over their pastries in the comments section.
The group then went to Ponza Island, where Jacobs met Tommy Hilfiger at the docks. “Go to Acqua Pazza for good pizza and pasta,” recommended the co-designer during a selfie of the loved-up couple, to which the response was: “Okay!”. The group also dined at other local spots such as Un Mare di Sapori and La Fontelina, with Jacobs sharing photos of traditional Italian dishes such as spaghetti alle vongole and spaghetti aglio e olio. After a final pit stop at La Posta Vecchia, a prestigious seaside villa built in 1640 on the outskirts of Rome, the group finally took their private jet back to New York last weekend. Fear not, Jacobs is still updating plenty of throwback content from their whimsical tour for you to browse while sitting at your desk.
USP: (Very well dressed) boys on tour trying Italy’s best gastronomic delights
Although the legendary ’90s supermodel has long since ditched her late-night morals, Kate Moss still likes to float around party islands like Ibiza and St Tropez. But this summer, the It girl chose a more unexpected place: Utah. Together with their good pal Rita Ora, they took a girls’ trip to Amangiri, a secluded five-star resort in Colorado’s dramatic red rock desert that has welcomed the likes of Kendall Jenner, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Hailey Bieber. The $6,000-a-night hotel overlooks 900 acres of canyons, ridges and ravines, which provided the setting for their action-packed schedule, which included the two style icons braving the Cave Peak Stairway. In fact, the “Hot Right Now” singer even uploaded a rare photo of Moss hanging 400 feet above the rocky pool. Very chic.
USP: Adrenaline-filled wellness retreat worthy of breaking any no-Instagram selfie policy.
What happens when the richest man in the world, a superstar agent and major fashion designer go on vacation? The answer is, not surprisingly, another extravagant yacht excursion.
Elon Musk is taking a break from his legal troubles on Twitter with his good friend Ari Emanuel, the CEO who served as the inspiration for the HBO show Entourage, and Sarah Staudinger, founder of Staud. Although he reportedly rented a villa for two weeks, the famous Tesla founder only got three days at the luxurious party venue before rushing back to California. During that time, the trio sipped cocktails, sunbathed and swam from the rear platform of the $7,000-a-day yacht, Zeus. They also took a day trip to Delos, an island near Mykonos that is home to one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece, and were spotted having lunch at the Spilia restaurant on Agia Anna beach. Not exactly going native, but still.
USP: An in-and-out hit of local-avoiding luxury with similarly ultra-wealthy friends
It’s been a tough time for the Biebers lately. Justin was recently diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a viral infection that has left half his face paralyzed, while Hailey suffered a mini-stroke in April. Their recent outing in Florence after the pop god’s appearance at the Lucca Summer Festival was therefore long overdue. The adorable couple were spotted soaking up the culture at the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze, with their PDA in front of Michelangelo’s world-famous David statue going viral on social media.
No trip to the Tuscan capital would be complete without gelato, and the couple visited Gelateria Artigianale with two bodyguards in tow. Understandably, they caused quite a stir, rushing down the historic streets to avoid posing for selfies. But never fear, they managed to end their romantic day with a candlelit dinner at La Giostra restaurant, a clubhouse founded by the late Prince Dimitri Kunz d’Asburgo Lorena.
USP: Historical culture as a backdrop for PDAs and fan hysteria.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck
Hollywood’s most hyped power couple finally celebrated tying the knot 20 years after the pair called off their first engagement, with an amorous week-long affair in Paris. Although the wedding was a low-key getaway from Las Vegas, the honeymoon was anything but. Accompanied by their respective children, the blended family gazed at Impressionist masterpieces at the Musée d’Orsay, charted the Petrus III, a 71-foot yacht built in 1953, for a cruise down the Seine, and dined at romantic spots such as elegant Jacques Garcia-designed restaurant Le Matignon.
The newlyweds have also ditched their children for impromptu play sessions on park benches and an indulgent dinner at Girafe under the Eiffel Tower, something so romantic it brought The Last Duel actor to tears. Much like the movie did with the viewers.
USP: A circuit of snogging pit stops
Paris, Venice, St Tropez
To usher in their 23rd anniversary, Victoria and David Beckham are busy taking Europe by storm. Starting off in their favorite city, Paris, the former footballer shared exciting stories about his fashion designer wife holding heart-shaped balloons and eating alfresco on the hotel balcony. They then took the opulent Venice Simplon-Orient Express, where a one-way ticket starts at £8,400 per person for a Grand Suite, for a quick break in Venice with Posh’s parents.
Since then it’s been non-stop holidaying for the couple, who most recently charted the £1.6m superyacht Madsummer a week around St Tropez. Complete with 10 suites, a private pool, a screening room and a dance floor, the couple invited a large group of friends – including supermodel Gigi Hadid and Sarah Ferguson, as well as their two children, Harper and Cruz – to join them for a knee-high sea. The rowdy gang has been jet skiing, sunbathing and karaoke. Yes, that’s right, karaoke — Victoria actually reprized her ’90s girl band era for a drunken rendition of their chart-topping song “Stop,” which David kindly shared on social media for us all to gawk at.
The Inter Miami CF co-owner also took his daughter Harper to Azur Park where the two got their kicks at the nightly fairground. And the parents peeled off from the group to enjoy a delicious dovey lunch at La Scoglio Da Tommaso restaurant, a celebrity hotspot in the coastal village of Marina del Cantone.
USP: Family-friendly debauchery
Megan Thee stallion
Hottie Megan Thee Stallion showed us how it’s done at her recent blowout in Ibiza. As the originator of “Hot Girl Summer,” the rapper served up body-ody-ody in a thong bikini aboard a luxury yacht while sipping champagne. The Billboard Women in Music award winner also graced her fans with a video of herself strutting around the white stone, ocean view villa in a leopard print bikini with a glass of white wine in hand. Plus, of course, an onslaught of videos from her friendship group twerking on sunbeds, bars and, well, any other flat surface they could find.
USP: Party like the pioneer of ‘Hot Girl Summer’ should
